Principles of Horticulture (LAN 100 and 100L) This is our “gateway” class.  This class covers the building blocks of the Horticulture, gardening, landscaping, and Green Industry.  Topics covered will include soils and pH, hardiness zones, plant names, careers, basic plant growth and physiology and much more.  Includes a lab.


Sustainable Landscape Practices (LAN 200 and 200L)

Current research-based “Best Practices” for planting, nursery plant selection, site selection, choosing trees and shrubs, pruning, urban soils, fertilization and much more!  The entire class focuses on sustainability in our landscapes.  Includes a lab.


Trees in the Landscape (LAN 110 and 110L)

The first in our pair of plant identification classes (the other is Shrubs in the Landscape LAN 210 also offered, but we recommend most students to take Trees first). Learn to identify common native and non-native trees in New England landscapes.  You will also learn tips for identification such as leaf arrangement, bark types, bud shapes etc.


Landscape Operations (LAN 225)

This is our Landscape business/entrepreneurship class.  No lab associated with this class.
